Condensed History of Hillingdon Park Baptist Church 1st Feb 1930 - First service held in the home of Mr Mrs Hart in Granville Rd. Hillingdon. March 1931 - Church built and opened in Hercies Road Hillingdon on the place where current car park is now situated. Mon 12th Oct 1931 - First official gathering around the Lord's Table as a Baptist Church. 1934 - Mr Pennell called to be Honorary Pastor - Had to retire 12 months later due to ill health. Mr Hart, First member, Mr Jarrett, Treasurer for 34 years, deacons lead the church. 21st Nov 1935 - Rev S R Couser invited to become Hon. Pastor - served in this role for 15 years. 8th Dec 1949 - £300 allocated from church funds towards the aim of having a full-time pastor. 13th July 1950 - Mr Harris invited to become Honorary Pastor - served until November 1958. 13th January 1959 - Mr Gibbons called to be Honorary Pastor - served until December 1965 . 16th April 1968 - CBM agreed to apply to Baptist Union Home Work Fund for financial assistance to call a full-time pastor. 14th September 1968 - Rev Anthony Mason inducted as first full-time pastor - moved to Bushey Baptist Church September 1973. 13th November 1973 - Resolution at CBM to place order for new building ASAP. 2nd October 1973 - Rev D Moore-Crispen called to the pastorate. 30th March 1974 - Rev D Moore-Crispen Inducted - served until January 1978. 30th April 1975 - Contract with Reema to build new church signed - (Back land sold to Auriol Housing Association which helped with deposit.) (Other loans from LBA). 27th March 1976 - New Church officially opened. 15th November 1977 - CBM proposed that we come off HMF from 1st Jan 1978. 1st May 1980 - Cliff Cotterell called to pastorate. February 1988 - Work starts on final phase of new building extension. March 1989 - Old building finally demolished. 28th October 1990 - New extension opened by Rev Peter Wortley. 16th February 1991 - Rev Reg Craig inducted and given a brief to help the Church in its work in the community, leading it to fulfil the vision originally accepted to start the extension work. March 1991 - First woman Deacon elected at AGM. February 1992 - AIM (Action in Mission) process began. 4th July 1992 - Church Conference at Woodley Baptist where we agreed to implement the AIM recommendations. This led us to commissioning further reports, namely;
July 1994 - Church agrees to appoint a part-time Co-ordinator who starts in September 1994. October 1st 1994 - Dovetail Community Outreach is launched. January 1995 - Long serving member Mrs Betty Bates dies and leaves a substantial legacy to the Church (approx. £65000). This pays off the debt owing on the premises and it is agreed to build a memorial garden in her memory and name the extension after her. Garden is finally completed in spring of 1997. Autumn 1995 - The Church agrees to start to look for a full-time Youth Worker. January 1996 - All loans are repaid to the London Baptist Association. March 1997 - Youth Worker interviews take place and Paul Bennett is invited to the post. He accepts and plans are put in place for him to start in September 1997. Spring 1997 - Memorial Garden is completed and final major works on the building are put in hand. December 31st 1997 - the task of realising the vision of April 1968 is complete. April 1998 - Dovetail Community Outreach receives a grant from the Council for a Catering Co-ordinator and the Drop In facility is reborn and a Lunch Club started for older people. January 2004 - Rev Phil Hibbert inducted as Church Worker.
